Policies

 

Massage should be avoided in instances of pathological conditions that might be spread along the skin, blood, or lymph. These conditions include, but not limited to, are: cancer, areas of acute inflammation, bruises, bleeding, varicose veins, osteoporosis, pitting edema, high blood pressure that is not being treated by medication, intoxication, psychosis, severe acne, first trimester of pregnancy, or acute injuries such as whiplash unless written consent from your physician is obtained prior.

Open and honest communication is essential between client and massage therapist. It is important that both parties have a clear understanding of expectations and limitations of their working relationships.

To clarify the following policies have been implemented:

ØMassage sessions are by appointment only. Hours vary depending on needs of both the client and the massage therapist.

ØAppointments are available in ½ hour, 1 hour, and 1-½ hour increments. These time limits include dress and undress time.

ØIf the client is late for a massage appointment, they will receive the remaining time left for that session at the full price of the scheduled appointment.

ØIf client should need to cancel the appointment, 24 hour advance notice is required. If client does not give 24 hours advance notice client will be charged for the full hour.

ØShould the massage therapist need to cancel the appointment they will contact the client 24 hours prior to their session. If unable to give 24 hours notice, the massage therapist will try to find another therapist to fill in. If unable to find a therapist to fill in or client does not want another therapist, the next session will be ½ off the original scheduled session's price.

ØPayment is to be made at the time of services rendered. Gift certificates are to be paid for at time of purchase. Not responsible for lost gift certificates. Check and cash are acceptable methods of payment. At this time I do not accept credit cards or debit cards. A $40 fee will be charged for checks returned for insufficient funds.

ØClients will be asked to undress only to their comfort level. The client will be covered at all times. Only the portion of the body being massaged will be uncovered. The genitals and breasts are never exposed or massaged.

ØSexual behavior of any kind either verbally or physically by the client toward the massage therapist or vice versa will not be tolerated. Any request for sexual activity by the client is viewed as solicitation and will be reported to the proper authorities. The massage therapist may terminate the massage and demand full payment in such circumstances.

ØThe client or the massage therapist has the right to terminate the massage at any time.

ØIt is the client's responsibility to notify the massage therapist of any and all medical conditions. If client fails to do so, your massage therapist cannot be held liable for any resulting complications. It is important that the client is open and honest regarding areas needing particular attention. Client is expected to inform massage therapist if there were any techniques or certain touching that made them feel uncomfortable. Client may refuse any massage methods.

ØThe client may or may not want to talk during the massage session. Discussions between the massage therapist and the client are completely confidential. In some cases, the client may have an emotional release causing crying or laughing, when massaged.As human beings we tend to hold our emotions in our muscles. This is a normal release.

ØChildren under the age of 18 must have a parent sign a minor consent form to receive a massage. It is preferred that the parent or guardian be present in the therapy room.

ØIt is expected that the client come to the sessions freshly bathed. The massage therapist will wash her hands and forearms before and after each session. The therapist will ensure all equipment used is clean and sanitized.
